Hello

"As most of you know, I have a B25P, an SB500 and 2 B50's (1 fretless, 1 modified to be a P-Bass). All 3 models play at least as well if not better than any bass I have ever owned, including a Sadowsky Metro, a US Lakland and multiple Skylines. The Carvins all have an overall feel that is just insanely comfortable and pleasing to me.

But they are indeed apples and oranges IMHO. I'm someone who doesn't have a #1 bass, as I take different basses for different sounds when needed. I don't slap, ever, nor do I use a pick, so all my impressions are from fingerstyle. The both sound great in their respective genres, with the B25P being a bit more versatile. I overall prefer the ergonomics of the B25, but that's much like saying I prefer this supermodel over her twin. Of course, having both would be ideal...

So for me, it's not an either/or type situation. The B50 line is, also IMHO, the absolute best deal available for a 5 string bass available anywhere today. The SB5000s are amazing basses that have re-established Carvin as a serious, mainstream player, and erased any concerns about prior concerns of quality and tone. The preamp is really well thought out and implemented. The B25 shows that Carvin continues to innovate and build boutique basses with the best of them (or maybe even better) for world class players. All this at a price that will allow people to actually take and use their basses at gigs.

If I could only have one, I would whine and moan and complain, but I'd likely end up with the B25P.

Having been converted to Carvins, I don't see myself seriously considering other basses anytime soon as the bar is now soooo high...."
