Bonjour,
Pardon my English....
Here's my latest acquisition; a 70's Kimbara Jazz copy, which cost me 30 Euros!
Rewired it with CTS pots & a PIO tone cap. Changed the bridge, which was actually OK being a four saddle one, but already had one of those no-name high mass ones, so I thought I'd use it. The stock tuners are fine, hold tuning well, & the pickups have a good enough tone, not under powered (7.5 & 8k) also.
The nicest thing about the bass is the bound neck, truss rod at body end. It plays nice, good frets & has a nice 70's 'U' shaped profile - feels quite vintage-like. The neckplate has the usual generic 'Steel Adjustable Neck. Made in Japan....' with some serial no. that probably doesn't mean anything. Perhaps surprisingly, the body is solid & not ply.
Its a better bass than some Fenders I've played!
